shnit is an international shortfilmfestival, originating in Bern, Switzerland. Also taking place in Bangkok, Buenos Aires, Cairo, Cape Town, Hong Kong, Moscow and San José.
Abstraction, overlapping layers and optical effects made the visual appearance of the 13th edition of shnit a very vibrant and lively one.
The moiré effect – two overlapping pattern resulting in a third one – is something one usually tries to avoid in print production. At the same time it offers a vast field for experimentation. An extensive set of intentional moiré's, still and moving, was used throughout this project.
During the poster print process the screen was gradually moved to provoke the moiré effect. Every printed poster has its own unique pattern and acts as a frame of one overarching animation of posters.
